🔬 About the Assignment at AstraZeneca

This assignment is based at AstraZeneca’s dynamic R&D site in Gothenburg, within the Early CVRM (Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism) area. You’ll be part of the Automation & Assays team, which uses advanced technologies to deliver molecular biology data that supports drug discovery projects across CVRM.

The team is central to developing and running automated methods for sample preparation and assay platforms—key to generating the deep biological insights needed to drive the next generation of treatments.

🧪 Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Scientist, your core responsibility is to process biological samples for proteomic analysis and contribute to assay and method development. You will also collaborate across functions and take part in model development and scientific planning.

Key responsibilities include:

• Processing tissue samples using cell surface protein enrichment techniques
• Planning and executing complex lab experiments independently
• Method and assay development using automated systems
• Reporting and presenting findings according to project timelines
• Supporting biomarker discovery, target identification, and mechanism of action studies
• Collaborating with stakeholders across AstraZeneca’s R&D organization

✅ Who You Are

Required qualifications:

• PhD or a Master’s degree + 4 years of relevant laboratory experience
• Strong academic and hands-on background in Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or similar
• Deep experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques, especially protein assays and sample preparation
• Proven ability to independently plan and execute lab studies and perform thorough data analysis
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience processing biological samples for proteomics
• Knowledge in proteomics and related tools
• Automation skills (e.g., robotic liquid handlers)
• Experience in assay development
• Previous experience in pharmaceutical R&D
• Demonstrated leadership in science through publications or mentoring
• Innovative mindset and continuous improvement drive
