WeQuel is now looking for a Senior Scientist Bioscience Renal in vitro with strong expertise in in vitro experimental biology to join the Bioscience Renal in vitro team within the Early Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism (CVRM) therapeutic area. 

The Role

As a Senior Scientist with WeQuel, working on assignment at AstraZeneca, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative team dedicated to identifying new treatment options for patients with renal disease. The in vitro team works with various preclinical models and different drug modalities to drive the renal pipeline. You will take part in both establishing new methods and using a wide array of advanced cell culture and 3D models while driving new target development. You will collaborate with experts from different functions and contribute to project teams.

What You’ll Do

• Independently design, plan, and conduct high-quality in vitro experiments in renal disease models.
• Identify and implement new methods/assays relevant to the renal disease area.
• Utilize a variety of molecular biology techniques, including western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry, and cell imaging.
• Perform conceptual interpretation and presentation of generated data.
• Deliver data, reports, and regulatory documents.
• Ensure that work adheres to safety, health, environmental (SHE), quality, and compliance standards.

Essential Requirements

• Master’s degree in biology, biotechnology, biomedicine, physiology, or medicine.
• Hands-on experience in in vitro molecular biology, including western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry, and cell imaging.
• Extensive expertise in cell culture-related work.
• Strong oral and written communication skills. English is essential; Swedish is appreciated but not required.

Desirable Qualifications

• PhD in biology, biotechnology, biomedicine, physiology, or medicine.
• Proven publication record.
• Background in renal biology.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Expertise in cell metabolism and mitochondrial biology.
