WeQuel is now looking for an Assoc. Principal Scientist Bioscience with expertise in in vivo experimental biology to join the Bioscience Renal in vivo team within the Early Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism (CVRM) therapeutic area. 

The Role

As an Assoc. Principal Scientist with WeQuel, working on assignment at AstraZeneca, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative team dedicated to identifying new treatment options for patients with renal disease. The in vivo team works with various preclinical models and different drug modalities to drive the renal pipeline. You will collaborate with experts from different functions and contribute to project teams.

What You’ll Do

• Independently design, plan, and conduct high-quality in vivo experiments in preclinical models of renal disease.
• Identify and implement new models/assays relevant to the renal disease area.
• Analyze biological fluids for biomarker quantification.
• Interpret and present generated data.
• Act as a Bioscience representative in assigned projects.
• Potentially act as Target Champion, proactively identifying and developing new target ideas into projects.
• Deliver data, presentations, reports, and regulatory documents.
• Demonstrate scientific leadership in renal pathology and pathophysiology by presenting data in key internal forums.
• Ensure that work adheres to safety, health, environmental (SHE), quality, and compliance standards (e.g., General Laboratory Standard - GLS).

Essential Requirements

• PhD in biology, physiology, pathology, medicine, or other relevant fields.
• Extensive hands-on experience in in vivo experimental research, particularly in rodent renal models.
• Education and certification for in vivo experimentation.
• Proven publication record in relevant areas.
• Strong oral and written communication skills. English is essential; Swedish is appreciated but not required.

Desirable Qualifications

• Ability to work with flexibility and independence.
• Experience collaborating with preclinical contract research organizations.
• Deep expertise in renal physiology and/or pathology.
• Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
