Data Engineer – Consulting assignment

About the Role

As a Data Engineer, you will design, build and maintain scalable data platforms that enable advanced analytics, AI and data-driven decision-making. You will work close to cross-functional teams including software engineers, data scientists, robotics engineers and business stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure and high-performing data solutions.

You will take ownership of the full data lifecycle – from ingestion and transformation to storage, governance and availability – in cloud-native environments. The role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on implementation, with a strong focus on quality, performance and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable batch and streaming data pipelines

• Build and maintain cloud-native data platforms (lakehouse/data-lake architectures)

• Develop robust data models and ensure high data quality and reliability

• Implement security, governance and compliance frameworks (e.g. GDPR, IAM, encryption)

• Optimize performance, scalability and cloud cost efficiency

• Enable edge-to-cloud ingestion for high-throughput data sources (e.g. video, IoT, time series)

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business and technical requirements into production-ready data solutions

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data/Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar.

• Experience and Knowledge: 8+ years building cloud-native data platforms

• Lakehouse/data-lake patterns 

• Batch and streaming pipelines strong Python and SQL 

• Security/governance (IAM, encryption, RBAC/ABAC)

• GDPR/privacy engineering

• Edge-to-cloud ingestion for high throughput video/time series using open formats

• CI/CD and infrastructure as code containers 

• Cost-aware architecture. (Examples: Azure/AWS/GCP, Spark, Kafka/Event Hubs, Airflow/Data Factory/Workflows.) 

• System thinker who favors open standards and collaborates with hardware, robotics, and legal/compliance.

• Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Swedish is a plus.
