About the role

We are looking for Animal Technicians to join AstraZeneca’s Animal Science and Technologies (AST) department in Gothenburg. The team delivers in vivo studies, animal care and welfare, always guided by the 3Rs principles.

Main responsibilities:

• Perform daily animal husbandry for rodents and pigs to secure high standards of care & welfare.
• Support with breeding and maintenance of transgenic mice.
• Carry out technical procedures such as sample collection, weighing and administration of medicines/compounds.
• Maintain accurate daily records for animals and environment.
• Contribute to facility operations (e.g. dishwashing, cage/rack maintenance).
• Work flexibly across different areas and participate in weekend/out-of-hours support.
• Ensure compliance with SHE, GLS and internal standards.

Requirements

Essential:

• Experience working with rodents and/or a strong interest in animal care & welfare.
• Knowledge of Laboratory Animal Science (LAS), with focus on animal welfare and the 3Rs.
• Education from “Naturbruksgymnasium” or equivalent.
• Laboratory Animal education (NCLASET or equivalent LAS course) – may be optional with sufficient hands-on experience.

Soft skills:

• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and consistently to high standards.
